Horse racing continues to take place daily during the coronavirus pandemic, and on Thursday the Linda Rice-trained Blackjack Davey will try to win for the first time in his career when he leaves the starting gate in a maiden special race at Belmont Park in Elmont, N.Y. This 3-year-old son of Posse finished eighth in his only career start. He has been installed as the 2-1 morning-line favorite in Race 3, a 1 1/16-mile race that drew seven entrants.

The race is the third leg of the early Pick 5, which requires a bettor to pick the winner of five consecutive races. The Pick 5 begins with Race 1 at 1:15 p.m. ET. National handicapping champion Jonathon Kinchen has handicapped each of the five races in the early Belmont Park Pick 5, and, with the sequence featuring competitive fields, you’ll want to hear what Kinchen has to say before making any early Belmont Park Pick 5 selections at Belmont Park for Thursday, July 2.

Kinchen is one of the nation’s most successful and recognizable horseplayers. An analyst for Fox Sports’ America’s Day at the Races and co-host of the In the Money Players’ Podcast, Kinchen won the National Horseplayers Championship Tour in 2015, a demanding, yearlong series of handicapping events across the country. That same year, he became the only player in history to have both of his entries qualify for the final table of the National Horseplayers Championship.

In addition, Kinchen has scored huge on some of racing’s biggest days. At the 2015 Kentucky Derby, he cashed for $150,000 after nailing a Pick 6 and a cold Pick 3 that paid $50,000.

He’s currently riding a hot streak on his horse racing picks for SportsLine. In the Beholder Mile in March, he gave out a $50 exacta that paid $550. On April 11, he crushed the Oaklawn Stakes, giving out a $5 exacta that paid a whopping $1,338. On May 27 he hit a $1.50 Pick 4 at Tampa Bay Downs that paid $1,227. He also hit the Pick 4 at tracks around the country a whopping five times in April. Those are just some of his biggest hits this year.

Anyone who has followed him is up big.

Now, Kinchen has handicapped the early Pick 5 at Belmont Park for Thursday, July 2, made his horse racing picks and constructed his tickets. You can head here to see them.

Top Belmont Park Pick 5 selections for July 2

Kinchen is high on Jade’s Dream, a 7-2 shot in Race 3, the third leg of the Pick 5. This 3-year-old son of Drosselmeyer is trained by Michelle Nevin and ridden by up-and-coming jockey Reylu Gutierrez. The colt is coming off a second-place finish on June 7, his best finish in two career starts.

In that race, Jade’s Dream made a huge improvement after adding blinkers. “He ran evenly that day and should appreciate the extra half furlong of Thursday’s distance,” Kinchen tells SportsLine. Jade’s Dream is Kinchen’s top pick in Race 3 and a single A horse on his Pick 5 tickets.

In addition Kinchen is high on Flashpackinbarbie, the 9-5 favorite in Race 4. This 4-year-old daughter of Munnings has one win in two career starts. She last raced 11 months ago, finishing 11th in an allowance race.

Flashpackinbarbie earned a fast figure in her lone win and would be tough to beat if she’s able to repeat that performance. “On Thursday she drops for a tag and is extremely dangerous in an underwhelming field,” Kinchen tells SportsLine. Kinchen has designated Flashpackinbarbie an A horse on his Belmont Park Pick 5 tickets.
