Billy Price is up to 330 pounds and ready to compete at Bengals training camp

Cincinnati Bengals offensive lineman Billy Price hasn’t exactly thrown in the towel on his NFL fate.

Price, Cincinnati’s first-round pick in 2018, got knocked out of potential starting jobs last season under a new coaching staff and had the look of a player about to be on the roster bubble.

But Price has remade his body this offseason, ballooning up to 330 pounds in an effort to match what offensive line coach Jim Turner likes, according to Dave Lapham of the team’s official website:

“Billy Price has responded like you hope as a teammate and a coach he would…he’s not assuming the fetal position, he’s trying to do something about it, trying to improve himself and the offensive line as a whole.”

It’s something of a last-ditch effort for Price, who lost the center job to Trey Hopkins and didn’t exactly outperform a rookie Michael Jordan at left guard last year.

There’s always hope Price can still realize some of his potential if his body agrees, but he’s battled plantar fasciitis and other nagging issues since going pro. The Bengals have responded as of late by signing Xavier Su’a-Filo in free agency and drafting Hakeem Adeniji to boost the entire unit.
