The Panthers will face the Packers at Lambeau Field in Green Bay in a late afternoon game at 4:25 pm ET. The game will be televised on Fox TV.

Carolina (5-3 SU, 5-3 ATS) has put qb Cam Newton on injured reserve so, at least for the immediate future, the starting qb job belongs to Kyle Allen. He has performed very well since Newton went out with a foot injury. Allen who is an undrafted rookie has gone 5-1 in his six starts for the Panthers.

Carolina’s Christian McCaffrey has an NFL leading 1,244 yards from scrimmage and 13 touchdowns. He has stepped up his production recently with nine touchdowns in the last four games. Allen said “He is the heart and soul of our offense and the heart and soul of our team”.

Carolina expects to get defensive end Mario Atkinson back after he was away from the team last week as a result of the fatal shooting of his brother. Atkinson has 6 1//2 sacks this season and the Panthers lead the MFL with a team total of 34 sacks.

Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers has been back to his old self this season after having an off year last season. He has passed for 2,485 yards and 17 touchdowns with only two interceptions.

Green Bay (7-2 SU, 6-3 ATS) lost 26-11 to the Los Angeles Chargers last week and Rodgers was sacked 3 times and passed for only 161 yards. Rodgers said ”We just didn’t have that normal juice. … there was obviously something that threw us off a little bit energetically.”

RB Aaron Jones had only 29 total yards from scrimmage against the Chargers after having a career best 226 yards from scrimmage the previous week in the Packers victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Green Bay’s linebackers have been have been playing very well and have put a lot of pressure on opposing quarterbacks this season. Blake Martinez leads the NFL with 95 tackles, Za’Darius Smith has 8 ½ sacks and Preston Smith has 8 sacks.

Green Bay opened at -6 but that has dropped to -4.5 at many books. The total has been holding steady at 48.
