The Rockets (11-4 SU, 7-8 ATS), who are in first place in the Southwest Division of the NBA’s Western Conference, had their eight-game winning streak halted Wednesday night in their 105-95 loss to the Northwest Division leading Denver Nuggets.
In the Rocket’s loss to the Nuggets James Harden had 27 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists but also turned the ball over 8 times. Clint Capela had 12 points and 21 rebounds while Russell Westbrook had 25 points but made only 8 of his 22 field goal attempts.
“They just double team every possession, …I think we allowed them too many points off our turnovers. Defensively we just have to be better” said Harden.
In their earlier game this season Harden, who leads the NBA in scoring with an average of 38.4 points per game, lit up the Clippers for 47 points
Tonight, they travel to Los Angeles for another game with a Western Conference contender, the Los Angeles Clippers (10-5 SU, 7-7-1 ATS). The Clippers are in second place in the Pacific Division of the West 2 games behind the Lakers.
The Clippers played at the Boston Celtics Wednesday night in a game that went down to the wire. The Clippers ultimately prevailed 107-104 in overtime. They put their three-headed monster on the court for the first time this season against the Celtics. Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Lou Williams did not disappoint in their debut together. George had 25 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists while “Sweet Lou” Williams had a game high 27 points and Kawhi had 17 points on 7 made FGs in 20 attempts. But he exhibited his big-time defensive chops when he blocked Kemba Walker’s three pointer at the buzzer to seal the win.
The Celts had to choose their poison and the benefactor was Patrick Beverley, who was left open frequently. He took advantage by scoring 14 points, grabbing a career-high 16 rebounds and dishing out 7 dimes. “He was phenomenal” said LA coach Doc Rivers.
