Square Enix has announced that NieR Replicant — the first entry in the NieR series — will be receiving a new version for consoles and PC, celebrating the series’ 10th anniversary. Continuing the Drakengard storyline, NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… as it’s known, will be headed up by Happy Dungeons dev Toylogic, with input from PlatinumGames.
Described as a “version up” from the original by Square Enix Producer Yusuke Saito (via ResetEra), NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… will feature a variety of new content, which may or may not include a new ending, definitely will include new music from composer Keiichi Okabe, re-recorded voice overs, and NieR Automata’s Senior Designer Takahisa Taura will apparently oversee development, too.
Originally released in 2010 in the west as simply NieR, the original game also launched in Japan as NieR Replicant for PS3 and NieR Gestalt for Xbox 360. That means this will technically be the first time that NieR Replicant has properly released for a western audience.
NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, but no release date has yet been announced. You’d assume it’ll be landing sometime in 2020.
